By Deepika MalaJamie Oliver Ltd, the company managing UK celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, has chosen LogMeIn (News - Alert) Rescue for remote IT support.
Rescue, LogMeIn's web-based remote support product, will be used by Jamie Oliver Ltd's IT team to resolve issues such as email delivery errors and network connectivity problems.
Currently, more than 500 end users, across PCs, Macs and mobile devices, in approximately 30 different group companies around the UK are supported by the team.
These different companies include not only Jamie Oliver's restaurants, but also the editorial teams behind his publications, business development teams, marketing and PR teams and food and recipe research teams.
Patricio Colombo, head of IT & Systems at Jamie Oliver Ltd, commented: "We had already heard of Rescue being used to support other restaurants and it offered a number of benefits. Speed of response is absolutely critical to our business - if the reservation system in one of our restaurants fails during a busy weekend, we need to have it back up and running in minutes, not hours. Rescue's an excellent tool for handling those sorts of out-of-hours issues."
End users with the help of Rescue get immense support during travel to other countries. Recently, Jamie Oliver spent three months in Los Angeles with a 20-strong production team, as well as his family and personal assistants.
VPN is not ideal for connecting to remote support because the VPN can sometimes be the source of the problem. Instead, a flexible, web-based solution that provides faster, easier and more reliable rapid response to any emergency can be used.
Most people will prefer Rescue to fix their IT issues while they are not around waiting for the resolution. The reboot and reconnect features and the bi-directional transfer of files make Rescue the ultimate choice.
Lee Weiner, vice president of support products for LogMeIn, said: "Jamie Oliver Ltd.’s ability to support hundreds of end users with a small, focused and highly efficient team is a testament to their vision and to the power of the modern IT helpdesk."
In related news, LogMeIn has said that its free screen-sharing service, join.me, has added new iPad and iPhone (News - Alert) capabilities to simplify collaboration with mobile colleagues and customers.
