Courion Adds Application Support to Identity and Access Management Cloud Offerings

Courion (News - Alert) Corporation a provider of Access Risk Management solutions announced that it has extended its identity and access management cloud offerings and customer base by adding application support for enterprises, healthcare and government organizations.

The company offers over 20 different cloud-based applications which are deployed at customer sites, including Salesforce, Cerner (News - Alert) Millennium and Equifax. Courion’s Access Risk Management solutions helps IT managers get control and visibility into employee access to cloud applications. This reduces risk and also supervises if users are following all compliance regulations.

The use of cloud services is increasing fast owing to the efficiencies it provides but it poses several issues that need to be understood by all enterprises, said officials in a release.

According to Courion’s 2010 Access Assurance Survey of 384 large enterprises, about 48 percent of them were not confident that a compliance audit of their cloud-based applications would show that all user access was appropriate. Also 16 percent of respondents said that they were aware of access violations but did not have the means to detect them.

Kent Welch, director of cloud operations at Courion said, “There is a lot of confusion and doubt about how access to cloud applications can be controlled. The Courion Access Assurance Suite solution allows customers to manage access to these applications in both private and public cloud environments just as simply as they execute their existing identity and access governance programs on premise, whether it be provisioning changes, certifying access, remediating violations, or generating audit and compliance reports.”

It is important to maintain the ability to define, assess, enforce and verify access policies for hosted applications as will be done if they were residing in the data center onsite. Courion’s Access Assurance Suite solutions help users to quickly and easily solve their most complex identity and access management, risk and compliance challenges. Access management includes password management, provisioning, and role management.

TMCnet reported that Courion Corporation announced that West Midlands Police, the UK’s second largest police force, has deployed its Access Assurance Suite solution.
