Singapore Based IDA Selects ViVOtech to Showcase Rich Mobile NFC Services

Provider of near field communication (NFC) software and systems company ViVOtech was recently awarded a contract by Singapore based Infocomm Development Authority (IDA (News - Alert)) to develop and implement a showcase for rich mobile NFC services.

Calling IDA “true innovators” and “visionaries,” Michael Mullagh (News - Alert) CEO at ViVOtech, said that the company is “honored” to develop IDA’s rich mobile NFC showcase.”

The demonstration is expected to showcase the future of mobile NFC services. Company officials believe that this would improve customers’ shopping experiences at supermarkets and retail stores.

Moreover, the showcase is also expected to leverage existing IDA’s Digital Concierge (DC) enablers and services such as taxi booking and remote payment services.

Called Smart Shopping, this IDA’s NFC demonstration will showcase an application which allows shoppers to tap their iPhone equipped with an iCarte NFC sleeve on products’ price tags to instantly see on the phone screen the items’ details, buyer reviews, and any special offers or discounts.

Company officials said that the customer can then add items to an electronic mobile shopping cart, and the selected items will be delivered to the address on a specified schedule.

Plus, with IDA’s Smart Shopping app, shopper can select a card from their phone’s digital wallet to pay for the purchases by tapping the phone on the ViVOtech reader integrated into the cash register.

Shopping cart details, payment card, delivery address and dates are then processed. Also, a receipt is displayed with relevant loyalty points and discount coupons generated from ViVOtech's coupon application, said company officials.

Thanks to Social Shopping, the other app of the IDA showcase, customers can virtually try on clothing and convert window shoppers into actual purchases leveraging social media platforms such as Facebook.

Company officials said that the Social Shopping app allows shoppers to virtually try on clothing and post pictures of themselves wearing the selected clothing onto their Facebook (News - Alert) wall.

Additionally, by tapping their phone on the ViVOtech's VP5000 NFC reader -- or leveraging DC’s remote mobile payment within the Social Shopping application, customers can pay for their items at the point of sale.

Earlier this year in March, ViVOtech released the ViVOnfc software suite 3.0, a Trusted Service Manager (TSM), over-the-air (OTA) provisioning, and digital wallet software, purported as the most collaborative and widely field tested solution for NFC handsets.
