Microsoft Selects Riverbed as Application Acceleration Hardware Partner

Riverbed Technology, the IT performance company, announced that Microsoft (News - Alert) named the company as an application acceleration hardware partner in the worldwide network of Microsoft Technology Centers (MTCs).

Leveraging the partnership, customers can interact with solutions experts and test joint Riverbed (News - Alert)-Microsoft solutions in a high-performance environment.

Riverbed and Microsoft have partnered on several important product areas aimed at improving the business of enterprises. Enterprises can significantly improve collaboration by utilizing Microsoft enterprise software solutions over the wide area network (WAN) and in the cloud.

“Microsoft Technology Centers include hardware and software from industry leading partners -- including Riverbed -- that our joint customers are able to access during their engagements,” said Chuck McCann, Worldwide MTC alliances program director, Microsoft, statement.

“Customers will now have the opportunity to test drive Riverbed WAN optimization solutions to accelerate application traffic over the WAN and get the most out of their Microsoft deployments,” McCann added.

As collaborative environments, Microsoft Technology Centers offer access to innovative technologies and world-class expertise. Such centers are expected to enable organizations to envision, design and deploy enterprise IT solutions to meet their specific needs.

Microsoft has 22 MTCs around the world. Prospective Riverbed-Microsoft customers can leverage architecture design sessions and proof of concept workshops, enabling them to design cutting edge enterprise IT solutions.

“Riverbed has worked closely with Microsoft to help ensure that joint customers realize the best possible performance for their Microsoft enterprise applications,” said Venugopal Pai, vice president of global alliances, Riverbed.

Recently, Riverbed Technology announced that Ophir Energy, a U.K.-based oil and gas exploration company, deployed Riverbed wide area network optimization solution connecting the company's African, European and Australian offices.

With the Riverbed Steelhead appliances and Steelhead Mobile, Ophir Energy has experienced accelerated application performance, enabling faster access to business-critical data.
