RisingTide Systems Unveils Next-Generation Data Storage Systems

RisingTide Systems (RTS), a provider of high-performance storage systems, announced the release of MediaCStor data storage platform, RTS' latest generation of advanced data storage systems that sets a new standard for performance, density and cost in data storage systems. Ensuring dynamic data delivery on any device, at any place, at any time, requires ever increasing processing efficiencies and storage densities. High-density, high-performance and highly scalable data storage memory and data delivery solutions have therefore become the core of the current media and data rich lifestyles and economies. The RTS MediaCStor offers a 1U high-density storage system that delivers video play-out of more than 1,000 concurrent HD streams. It is built on a 5.2 TB Fusion ioDrive Octal PCIe flash-based storage memory card as backstore, one or more Mellanox (News - Alert) ConnectX-2 adapters with dual 40Gb/s (QDR) InfiniBand ports for high-speed connectivity, and the high-performance and highly scalable RTS storage software.

With MediaCStor, enterprise customers gain significant server consolidation ratios. As it uses disk-based technologies, the solution eliminates the need for more expensive infrastructural systems. It also reduces power and cooling expenses to provide a "greener" platform to high-speed data processing and delivery.

The MediaCStor storage platform seamlessly integrates next-generation technologies such as ioDrive Octals from Fusion-io (News - Alert); ConnectX-2 dual-port 40Gb/s InfiniBand adapters from Mellanox; and RTS storage software and systems

The resulting design reduces hardware complexity, space and weight requirements, thereby significantly increasing data storage density, while reducing space, power and weight, which cuts CapEx and OpEx, company officials said.

“We are excited that RisingTide software, together with Fusion-io ioDrive Octal flash storage and Mellanox ConnectX-2 InfiniBand adapters, provides ultra-high performance and density shared storage decentralization solutions that enhance enterprise applications, database, virtualization environment and digital media delivery systems,” said Marc Fleischmann, CEO of RisingTide Systems, in a statement. Recently Mellanox Technologies announced it has achieved a new low-latency record using Mellanox ConnectX-2 EN 10GbE NICs with RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE), the IBM (News - Alert) BNT RackSwitch G8264 10GbE switch, and IBM x3550 servers running IBM's WebSphere MQ Low Latency Messaging (LLM) technology.
