Daon announced that it has been selected as the winner in the Cyber Security and Authentication category for the American Technology (News
- Alert) Awards.
“We are honored that TechAmerica Foundation has selected Daon as its top cyber security and authentication innovator,” said Daon CEO Tom Grissen, in a release.
TechAmerica Foundation educates industry executives, policy makers and opinion leaders on the usefulness of technology in security and general welfare.
The company provides identity assurance products and services. Daon’s COTS products are scalable, flexible and are most suitable in real-world environment. They have been used successfully to secure several million identities.
According to company sources, the award was in recognition of the capabilities of IdentityX, the mobile authentication solution that is capable of reducing the risk of unauthorized transactions, thereby protecting businesses and consumers against online fraud and hacking.
“Recent online security breaches clearly demonstrate that the time of hardware tokens has passed. Password based tokens alone fall short of the sophisticated security needed to enable trusted interactions whether they are exchanges made from your office, home or via mobile devices,” Grissen added.
IdentityX is a patented security platform which is a risk-aware solution that enables the public and private sector to ensure security of existing business applications.
Company sources added that IdentityX platform helps organizations to set identity authentication requirements depending on the risk that is encountered with each digital interaction. The authentication provided includes simple soft token types to a sophisticated fusion of GPS, PIN/password, and biometrics using voice, face and palm.
Also IdentityX interacts with the end user’s mobile device and eliminates the need for additional hardware.
Senator Bob Bennett, chairman for TechAmerica Foundation said, “We had a lot of nominations for these prestigious awards, and we congratulate Daon for their winning achievement. TechAmerica Foundation is excited to highlight Daon as it continues to influence technology development throughout the rest of the world.”
In related news TMCnet reported that Daon has released the latest version of IdentityX in April 2011.
