Warecorp Upgrades SoapBlox Blogging Platform

Warecorp announced the introduction of SoapBlox 2.0, an upgraded and revitalized version of the original SoapBlox blogging platform, at the sixth annual Netroots Nation convention in Minneapolis.

SoapBlox is a network of more than 90 influential progressive blogs from across the United States and it was designed specifically for building multi-author blogging communities. SoapBlox blogging platform was acquired in January 2011 by Warecorp.

SoapBlox is a blog platform that allows online community participation. It offers more than Wordpress and Blogger as the SoapBlox blog allows community members to easily publish their own content. The online community allows members to post comments, rate and recommend content to others.

In a release, Warecorp CEO Chris Dykstra said, “SoapBlox played a critical role in the 50-state blogging strategy in the last election, and the latest enhancements make the platform even more effective for users heading into the 2012 elections.”

“We are committed to serving the SoapBlox community and to building better ways to share content through technology. We are proud to share our progress at Netroots Nation and look forward to achieving great things together in 2012,” Dykstra added.

SoapBlox is a user-friendly platform in which bloggers can quickly and easily publish their own content within 24 hours of signing up. The new features included in SoapBlox 2.0 are better social media sharing, support for Google (News - Alert) Analytics, cut and paste posting from Microsoft Word, and improved theming capabilities.

Minneapolis-based Warecorp is the software and Web services arm of a consortium of brands that encompasses The UpTake, citizen-fueled news; Zanby, open source enterprise collaboration; Global Contribution, coworking acceleration; Drupal Jobs, affordable Drupal support; and SoapBlox, community blogging.

The network formed by the companies offers solutions for civic progress with support for open source software, media and collaboration. Warecorp strives to improve quality of life locally, nationally and internationally, said officials.

In related news, TMCnet reported in early 2011 that SoapBlox was the victim of a series of attacks by hackers that temporarily disabled many of its customers’ blogs.

“In the face of SoapBlox’s rapid growth and rising visibility, it became very clear that we needed to seek the services of a stable IT Services firm,” said Paul Preston, CEO and founder of SoapBlox.

The company then chose Warecorp to provide strategic hosting and maintenance support services to SoapBlox.
