When running in a virtualized environment, it is important to balance your load. No one knows this better than the experts at Zeus Technology. To learn more about the company and its offerings, TMCnet’s CEO Rich Tehrani sat down with Kosten Metreweli (News - Alert), CMO of Zeus Technology at Interop 2011.
In an interview captured in this video, Metreweli shared that Zeus Technology makes application delivery controllers and software based load balancers. The company was having a great Interop (News - Alert) experience working with Arista, a switch manufacturer. Arista launched a new and extensive operating system that allows running additional applications. This OS is running Zeus load balancing directly on their switch.
The benefits for a customer with an Arista switch is that they can add load balancing functionality and run it directly on the switch without implementing any more hardware, which maximizes the space within the data center.
Zeus Technology (News - Alert) is also working with Rackspace as they launch a cloud-based load-balancer. The company is seeing phenomenal success with this product, which offers switch on load balancing functionality from the control panel and all based on Zeus technology. According to Metreweli, it is an extremely popular offering.
Metreweli also noted that the company is seeing continued customers moving away from physical hardware as they move to the cloud. As they do that, there is importance in implementing load balancing within the virtual environment to leverage virtualization properly.
Other vendors want to partner with Zeus Technology and the company is working with a lot of cloud providers, as there is a lot of interest in that area. A lot of technology providers to deliver complete solutions.
“We are also working with customers implementing applications in pure cloud or virtualized environments and hybrids,” said Metreweli. “We can place capabilities on the data center and then burst out to the cloud when necessary, which is a benefit in high demand right now.”
What’s next for the company? They are continuing to develop the product to target more virtualization and cloud environments to deliver complete flexibility.
