In the last few years, open-source usage is becoming widely used in the enterprises. Many companies are collaborating to adopt open source search. Nuxeo, the Open Source (News - Alert) Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform company, has done partnership with Hippo, a vendor of commercial Java Open Source Web Content Management.
According to a press release, the two companies have built an ECM / WCM connector based on the OASIS CMIS (Content Management Interoperability Services) standard. Both the companies have decided to make final announcement on July 20th, 2011 through a webinar.
Jeroen Verberg, Hippo CEO said that the Hippo CMS and Hippo Portal help empower our customers' audiences, by driving multi-channel, multi-lingual, multi-site solutions and the CMIS connector to Nuxeo applications adds yet another possibility for the online communication of content.
He added a connector between these two open sources, Java-based platforms is quite empowering for organizations that need a scalable system that can grow and integrate with other tools.
Based on the CMIS standard, the connector allows for content from a Nuxeo-based ECM application to be accessible on a Hippo-based website. Content from Nuxeo ECM applications, such as Nuxeo Document Management and Nuxeo Digital Asset Management, are managed by business processes internal to an organization.
Eric Barroca, Nuxeo CEO said, “The content management acronyms ECM and WCM can be misunderstood, but they are clearly in separate, but complementary domains, Nuxeo's Enterprise Content Management solutions address content-centric business processes that are internal to an organization. Web Content Management communicates information online, to both internal and external audiences. Hippo is a fast-growing company with a top-notch WCM solution, and we are pleased to partner with them.”
This eliminates the need to duplicate the information, and maintains the content history, validation workflow, versioning, and associated metadata. The July 20 webinar, featuring a live demo of the Nuxeo / Hippo connector and Q&A session, will be led by Mathijs Brand, Technical Sales Director for Hippo, and Roland Benedetti, VP of Products and Marketing for Nuxeo.
In other company news, TMCnet reported that Nuxeo released a new version of Nuxeo Document Management and Nuxeo Enterprise Platform today.
