Texas Instruments Joins Embedded Vision Alliance

In a recent announcement, Texas Instruments (News - Alert) Incorporated declared that it has joined Embedded Vision Alliance (EVA) as a member. EVA represents an industry collaboration to enable rapid growth of computer vision in embedded systems. With the membership, Texas Instruments has taken a major step to expand its capabilities in enabling its customers to develop the industry's most innovative hardware, development tools and software to make vision application development easier.

"We are seeing consumer demand for 'sight' in every application growing rapidly," said Niels Anderskouv, vice president, Digital Signal Processing Systems, TI, in a statement.   "Today, TI vision technology is changing the way people work, communicate and play. The future of that growth rests on companies that can work together to innovate, enable rapid development and provide software that allows customers to move quickly to meet that growth. We believe the Embedded Vision Alliance is a significant step in meeting that demand."

Since its establishment, Texas Instruments has been committed to vision technology. The company started its first programmable digital signal processors (DSPs) in the 1980s and has not looked back. Together with thousands of TI analog components, TI processors are helping customers realize success in the embedded vision market for applications such as automotive vision systems, video analytics cameras, digital signage, smart camera phones, robotics and more.

EVA, an industry collaboration led by BDTI to enable rapid growth of computer vision in embedded systems, welcomed its new member and appreciated Texas Instruments for its market-leading applications processors and system-on-chip solutions that fuel the optimal balance of programmability, performance and power for mobile devices and industrial systems.

"We are delighted that TI has become a founding member of the Embedded Vision Alliance," said Jeff Bier, president of BDTI.  "TI has been a pioneer in embedded vision applications, putting them in an excellent position to help EVA as we collaborate to enable the proliferation of embedded vision into hundreds of new applications."
