Talend Discusses Cloud-Enabled Integration Platform with TMCnet

Open source integration leader Talend had a lot to discuss at Cloud Expo East 2011, which took place this week in New York City, particularly about the fact that it has released its cloud-enabled integration platform and the first comprehensive unified integration platform for the cloud and hybrid IT environments.

The company, which was started five years ago, has made a lot of advances over the last few years, specifically with its acquisition of Sopera. Most recently, the open source vendor has introduced an offering that provides integration for hybrid environments.

“It’s the next logical step for us,” Yves de Montcheuil, vice president of marketing, told TMCnet Wednesday at the event of the announcement.

“While people have been experimenting left and right with the cloud, the conclusion is that it’s a type of technology that they want to deploy but they are having integration issues,” Montcheuil added. “This new offering clearly meets the demand of the market.”

An extension of the recently announced Unified Integration Platform, Talend Cloud offers elasticity, ubiquity, extensibility, security and reliability to those organizations looking to ensure the integrity of their integration processes, whether on-premise, in the cloud, via SaaS (News - Alert) or in hybrid environments, according to company officials.

The solution addresses concerns surrounding integration such as latency, bandwidth, permissions and security by guaranteeing flexible and secure integration of on-premise systems, cloud-based systems and SaaS applications.

“Although cloud has become ubiquitous in today’s IT deployments, many organizations are still trying to determine how to function in hybrid environments,” said Bertrand Diard, co-founder and CEO of Talend, in a statement.  “At the same time, the data deluge is continuing and these same organizations are struggling to properly manage and integrate this information and the multiple systems that store and process it.  Using Talend Cloud, customers can address these issues within a single platform that addresses a broad range of integration needs and technologies, ranging from data-oriented services to data quality and master data management, via a unified environment and a flexible deployment model.”

Of the new offering, Montcheuil said what it does best is help people who have hybrid environments – on premise and cloud.

For the past few years, Talend has emerged as one of the largest pure play vendors of open source software, offering a breadth of middleware solutions that address both data management and application integration needs, according to company officials.

The company is particularly curious to see how the rise of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) affects the cloud space.

“Our integration platform is a key enabler for PaaS,” Montcheuil said. “We are still a few years away from seeing massive deployment of PaaS… but we are definitely headed there."

During Cloud Expo, Talend also had the chance to talk with TMC's CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert). Click below to watch the interview.
