QinetiQ North America Unveils New Security Solution for U.S. Federal Government

QinetiQ (News - Alert) North America, a provider of defense technology and security solutions, announced the availability of its security solution designed to detect targeted social engineering attacks.

Leveraging QinetiQ North America Social Engineering Protection Appliance (SEPA), the government can protect their employees from these attacks through the use of E-mail Intent Analysis, real-time URL and link analysis as well as high value target protection.

The design of the security solution is based on the technology developed by QinetiQ North America subsidiary Cyveillance. The QinetiQ North America SEPA solution is expected to address the needs of government agencies to identify attacks targeting government executives and organizations.

“With the popularity of social media and today’s open government initiatives, there is more access to information about government leaders and agencies than ever before, making it easier for criminals and malicious organizations to develop targeted attacks,” said David Papas, vice president, Cyber Security Business of QinetiQ North America, in a statement.

“SEPA provides government organizations with the critical intelligence and analysis necessary to identify socially engineered attacks, protect individuals’ data and ensure the safety of critical information,” Papas added.

The SEPA solution is tailored to each agency’s environment to focus on the prevention of social engineering attacks. Cyveillance’s cyber intelligence capabilities and QinetiQ North America’s expertise in the federal market will assist government to utilize a tailored solution that helps protect against infiltration attempts.

SEPA is able to effectively examine the content and context of an e-mail, along with the methods and behavior of embedded Web page links, to judge the trustworthiness of the e-mail.

QinetiQ North America announced that its subsidiary, Spectro, introduced SpectroTrack, a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) optimized for real-time machine condition monitoring. The software offers data to make maintenance decisions based on machine condition.
