Ascom Network Testing has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) based on its recent analysis of the wireless communications drive test equipment market.
The region accounted for 36 percent of the total revenues generated from mobile network testing and optimization by Ascom in 2010 with the introduction of Long Term Evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) in the North American market. Also, despite significant competition from local market participants, the company managed to generate 13 percent of its revenues from the Asia-Pacific region, the report stated.
Ascom (News - Alert) concentrates on areas such as Wireless Solutions (high-value, customer-specific on-site communications solutions), Network Testing (a global market provider of testing, monitoring, and optimization solutions for mobile networks) and Security Communication.
“One of the primary factors contributing to Ascom's leadership position in the wireless communications drive test equipment market is its two strategic acquisitions in 2009," said Frost & Sullivan Program Manager Olga Yashkova. "The company also leverages its broad product portfolio to support a large number of network testing applications. TEMS solutions for mobile network optimization are a perfect combination with Ascom's market- leading mobile test solutions (MTS (News
- Alert)) and has strengthened Ascom's market position.”
Ascom enjoys relatively balanced revenues from across the globe, roughly in line with global regional technology investments by wireless operators due to its distributed global presence. In January 2009, Ascom acquired Comarco (News
- Alert) WTS, the wireless testing business of Comarco. By strengthening its presence in the North American benchmarking market, through enhanced measuring capabilities in Quality of Service (QoS) and network performance, this acquisition contributed to Ascom's leadership position.
Recently, the company released another survey in association with IFSEC, the world’s largest annual security event, which revealed that security spending is on the rise. Among end-users video surveillance systems received a 3 percent increase in budgets while access control and security systems integration solutions are expected to get a rise of 2 percent over the next twelve months. The company stated that vendors that sell security services and equipments showed more optimism.
