MD Logistics Deploys QuestaWeb's Foreign Trade Zone Software

QuestaWeb has announced that MD Logistics recently implemented its Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) software, allowing the 3PL to operate a fully compliant FTZ subzone and offer customers comprehensive FTZ management services.

Indiana-based MD Logistics is a third-party logistics (3PL) and supply chain management company. It is the one of the only 3PLs in the marketplace that can offer customers the benefits FTZs confer, including deferred duty on raw goods and reduced customs clearance and service fees.

John Sell, vice president of retail and transportation solutions at MD Logistics, said that compliance was a primary factor in selecting QuestaWeb’s FTZ solution; however, cost-effectiveness and the ability to opt for a software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) version also were major considerations.

Since most FTZ software licensees, typically a manufacturer or importer, will be the only user, Sell said that QuestaWeb separates itself from all other vendors by offering a solution that already includes the logic whereby 3PLs can use the software to service multiple customers simultaneously.

Thanks to QuestaWeb, 3PL can add and remove customer solutions as needed, Sell said.

“It is flexible, easily integrated and offers maximum automation, allowing us to handle high-volume clients,” he added.

QuestaWeb is a provider of integrated, Web-based global trade management software solutions. The company offers a business model that allows 3PL operators to expand operations to include FTZ management services, said Wayne Slossberg, vice president at QuestaWeb

Slossberg said that the software offers the latest features and functionality to assure full compliance with ever-changing government regulations, while keeping the affordability factor in mind.

“We offer licensed, hosted and SaaS versions to accommodate every customer price point. Plus, integration is a one-time requirement, no matter how many FTZ customers the 3PL adds to the system,” Slossberg said.

Last year in October, ChemLogix Global leveraged software solutions from QuestaWeb to provide enhanced international supply chain and logistics solutions to its global customer base.
