NetApp Strengthens Its Integrated Data Protection Solutions with SnapProtect Management Software

NetApp, a provider of storage and data management solutions, announced that it has strengthened its integrated data protection solutions with the newly released SnapProtect Management software. The software supposedly combines efficient, high-speed NetApp Snapshot copies and replication with tape in a single backup solution which allows users to enhance the speed, efficiency and simplicity of their backup and recovery operations.

The NetApp SnapProtect offering gets one of its core components from the CommVault (News - Alert) Simpana software.

NetApp claimed that its Snapshot software is the original and most functional point-in-time copy technology and it enables one to protect their data with no performance impact and minimal consumption of storage space. The Snapshot technology enables users to create point-in-time copies of file systems, which they can use to protect data, from a single file to a complete disaster recovery solution.  

Purported as a modern backup solution, the SnapProtect software combines high speed Snapshot copies and replication with tape to significantly reduce risk of downtime and data loss.
