LibreDigital Introduces Self-Service E-Book Distribution Portal for SMBs

LibreDigital (News - Alert), a company that offers solutions to allow readers enjoy their favorite books, newspapers and magazines anywhere at any time, recently launched a new self-service distribution portal for small to medium sized publishers.

According to company officials, the portal has been designed to allow small and medium sized publishers to submit their e-books for distribution on the Apple (News - Alert) iBookstore and other marketplaces. The company further said that the portal supports any kind of file.

LibreDigital is one of four approved aggregators for the Apple iBookstore in North America. It is also the only company authorized to provide all of the services Apple tracks in its aggregator program. LibreDigital, with its enhanced e-book and fixed-format e-books solutions, has helped Apple deliver the next generation e-book experience on the iPad. The new portal will open up these capabilities to small and medium sized publishers as well.

With the launch of the new portal, the small and medium publishers get an effective tool for converting, optimizing and distributing their content to Apple iBookstore as well as other large  e-book marketplaces in the world. To avail the distribution and conversion services for over 50 global marketplaces, the businesses need to sign up online.

Distribution services are provided on a revenue sharing basis and file conversion services can be charged to the publisher’s credit card based on the costs of converting from the original source, the company informed.

“Book publishing is experiencing strong growth in small to medium sized publishers similar to the growth of independent labels in the music industry,” President and CEO of LibreDigital Russell P. Reeder explained in a statement. “We are excited to offer these emerging new publishers the same tools we provide larger publishers for converting, optimizing and distributing their content to the largest e-book marketplaces in the world like the Apple iBookstore.”

In the beginning of the year, LibreDigital announced that it had secured $4 million in additional capital. The company announced that the investment will be used to fund key initiatives in the company's core business areas and accelerate the delivery of innovative digital reading technologies.
