Looking to improve service quality for its business and residential customers, UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones is deploying HP network management technology.
Apart from a two-year contract for ongoing support and maintenance, HP has provided UNE with all software, hardware, consulting and integration services.
Enabling the company to manage efficiently a multitechnology, multivendor, heterogeneous network environment, UNE’s offers consolidated service assurance environment, known as the “Manager of Managers” and based on HP OSS Transformation solutions. Also, enabling UNE – and its major business customers – to identify problems more quickly and resolve them before they impact customers, the HP OSS Transformation solutions provide a single, unified view of all networks.
“UNE can enhance customer service and operational efficiency with the consolidated service assurance provided by HP,” said David Sliter, vice president and general manager of Communications and Media Solutions at HP Enterprise Services in a company press release. “With a single view of all networks, UNE can manage a complex environment efficiently and provide customers a positive experience.”
To consolidate service assurance for its many diverse networks, including fixed-line voice, voice-over-internet protocol, high-speed internet, cable TV, entertainment and business services, UNE, one of the leading communications service providers (CSPs) in Colombia, selected HP to implement an operations support system (OSS). UNE can deliver better service to customers, and thus reduce customer turnover or “churn,” with a highly automated, highly efficient service assurance system. Also, UNE can efficiently support more aggressive service-level agreements that can attract business customers, the company stated in a press release.
Recently, the company announced that it expects weaker financial results this year as it rolls up its sleeves to redo its services business to undo what its CEO described as “years of neglect” under his predecessor. CEO Leo Apotheker charged that HP was too focused on short-term results, rather than expanding into high-margin areas, “such as helping businesses convert their systems to new technologies.”
