GENBAND Improves Ranking in Threat Analysis Profile for Products/Roadmap and Momentum/Traction

GENBAND, a developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, announced that Current Analysis (News - Alert) increased GENBAND ranking in threat analysis profile for Products/Roadmap and Momentum/Traction.

Current Analysis, which offers competitive response solutions for providers of IT and telecommunications solutions, equipment, and services, describes GENBAND as the “fastest-growing company in the telecommunications market” in terms of products and people, following its “transformative 2010 with additional acquisitions and continued product development.”

One of the reasons for increased ranking is the steady improvement of GENBAND portfolio over the past few quarters. The company has infused acquired products with new functionality or porting to a new platform.

The company has integrated the S3 SBC acquired with the purchase of NextPoint (News - Alert) into the ATCA-based GENiUS platform in early 2011. With this integration, GENBAND is now able to offer nearly an end-to-end IP transformation and security solution on a common platform.

GENBAND integrated Nortel’s (News - Alert) Carrier VoIP and Applications Solution (CVAS) properties in late May 2010. With this, GENBAND is able to claim the most diverse and comprehensive security and interconnect solution on the market, said Joe McGarvey, principal analyst at Current Analysis.

In early 2011, the company has enhanced the A2 application server it acquired with the Nortel transaction. The innovation includes mobility enhancements, a developer environment and integration with third-party applications, including MobileMax mobile client and StreamWIDE visual voice mail. All of these increase the competitiveness of the product and signal GENBAND’s commitment to the platform.

“GENBAND’s portfolio is complemented by market-leading NGN session control technology, an IMS-compatible hosted multimedia application server and traffic and policy management equipment,” McGarvey added.

According to Current Analysis GENBAND separates itself from standalone solution competitors by strategically assembling products into coherent and comprehensive solutions that are organized under common middleware and controlled under a common management system.

“When GENBAND’s entire product pool, such as media gateways, signaling routing and session control, is utilized, the company has few if any rivals that can match its end-to-end offering,” said McGarvey.

“Our strategic foundation is built upon facilitating network evolution and transformation through cutting-edge IP technology,” said Mehmet Balos (News - Alert), chief marketing officer of GENBAND, in a statement. “We are pleased that Current Analysis, a respected and independent research firm, has recognized GENBAND’s market leadership and impact.”

“Our comprehensive network transformation portfolio uniquely enables operators to navigate all stages of the IP evolution process, maximizing existing investments while unleashing the benefits of IP innovation,” Balos added.

Recently GENBAND announced that its SAFARI C3  switching platform for advanced multimedia communications services has been selected by ImproWare AG, an Internet and voice carrier in Northern Switzerland.
