Bluebeam Software Announces Studio Server for PDF-Based Collaboration

Bluebeam Software, which provides software for PDF creation, markup and editing solutions, has launched Studio Server, a server-based solution for locally hosted, real-time collaboration.

With Studio Server, firms can utilize the collaboration functions of Bluebeam’s cloud-based solution called Bluebeam Studio. Together the solutions enable a secure, PDF-based collaboration sessions for organizations in their locally hosted environment.

With these functionalities, Studio Server makes real-time collaboration even more accessible across industries and organizations in which file security is a key concern.

“Studio Server brings the magic of real-time collaboration from the cloud to our clients' servers, providing them the best and easiest tools for project communication and collaboration,” said Richard Lee, president and CEO of Bluebeam Software, in a statement. “Studio Server enables project teams to collaborate electronically from anywhere in the world, with greater control and better security.”

Bluebeam introduced Studio in Bluebeam PDF Revu 8.5 to enable users to connect and collaborate with anyone, anywhere and anytime. Users can connect in real time to chat and post industry-standard markups including text, highlights, shapes, CAD symbols, measurements and images, to a single copy of a PDF.

The collaboration software also allows users to create summary reports of all session activity. With this open collaboration, the Studio session host needs to own a seat of Bluebeam PDF Revu. Other participants can join the collaboration sessions simply by using Revu as a viewer.

With Studio Server, firms can now host online collaboration sessions on a local server where PDFs can be safely shared behind a firewall and monitored by a firm's IT department.

They can also control several functions to improve performance and speed, such as determining the maximum file size of PDFs shared in a session, the number of attendees that can join at once and session archival settings.

Recently Bluebeam Software announced it is hosting the Bluebeam International Rally Conference 2011. The event is designed to bring PDFs and RPMs together in a unique learning experience, according to company officials.
