WatchGuard Technologies Debuts WatchGuard XTM 2050, a Next-Gen Firewall

WatchGuard Technologies (News - Alert), a provider of business security solutions, unveiled the WatchGuard XTM 2050, a next-generation firewall designed for large enterprises and data centers that demand high-performance firewall, application control and intrusion prevention system (IPS) for guarding against data theft, malware and security breaches.

The XTM 2050 guarantees large enterprises that their information is safe and secure and at the same time factoring in affordability and ease of use. The XTM 2050 provides multi-gigabit Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) that secures corporate Internet traffic against hackers, malware, network attacks, intrusion attempts, data theft, and other cybercrime while securely connecting offices, remote and virtual employees, and providing real-time and historical visibility into security and user events.

WatchGuard officials said that NGFW XTM 2050 is superior to its competitors with dual, hot swap power supplies, hot swap fans, and swappable NICS and hard drives.

Officials with the company said that leveraging more than 15 years of firewall and network security expertise, WatchGuard specifically designed the XTM 2050 next-generation firewall to meet the ever changing needs and demanding requirements unique to enterprise environments. With this next-generation firewall, businesses can define, enforce and audit strong security and acceptable use policies, which results in increased employee productivity and optimized protection of critical network resources, applications and data.

Some of the features and benefits of the new solution are: redundant hot-swap power supplies, fans, storage, and NICs; high availability (active/passive and active/active); WAN and VPN failover; application control for over 1,800 applications; integration with Active Directory, LDAP, RADIUS, others for user-based firewalling; supports Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris OS with most common browsers; includes direct connect and scripting; IPSec site to site and remote user VPN; SSL remote user VPN; advanced VOIP and HTTPS security; and more.

The company explained that the XTM 2050 can thwart network threats while keeping traffic moving with a blazing 20 Gbps for firewall throughput and 2 Gbps VPN throughput. Users can choose how to manage the appliance with WatchGuard System Manager, the command line interface, and a web UI for access from anywhere, anytime.

The company added that the WatchGuard XTM 2050 next-generation firewall starts at $39,995 and will be available from WatchGuard certified Expert and Professional partners this June.
