Fusion-io Unveils OEM Alliance with Dell PowerEdge Servers

The pioneer of a next generation storage memory platform for shared data decentralization, Fusion-io, has extended its OEM alliance with Dell (News - Alert) to offer additional ioDrive models. Dell has also qualified Fusion's io Memory technology for five of its PowerEdge servers. According to its relationship with Fusion io, Dell will offer three additional ioMemory-based products – the 320 and 640 GB ioDrives and the 1.28 TB ioDrive Duo – in addition to its previous ioDrive products.

In a press release, Gary Orenstein, VP of Products for Fusion-io, said, “Recognizing that shared data decentralization gives enterprises a competitive advantage by speeding up access to their most active data, Dell's innovative team is giving PowerEdge server customers even more options to increase application performance while reducing infrastructure and operating costs. Fusion io Drives provide PowerEdge servers with native access to an organization's most critical data assets, and we are proud that Dell has qualified Fusion technology as a solution its customers can trust when engineering solutions that enhance the capabilities of their infrastructures.”

The Dell PowerEdge R610 and the Dell PowerEdge R910 Rack Server will be included by Dell’s server platform. The PowerEdge server portfolio offers a range of options with easy configuration, powerful open-standard systems management, scalable storage and flexible services designed to serve as the foundation of a reliable and efficient infrastructure.

Brian Payne, executive director of Platform Marketing for Dell's PowerEdge Server portfolio, said, “As our customers continue to experience exponential data growth, the ability to place their most active data on servers with shared data decentralization becomes increasingly appealing for speeding up applications and enterprise database performance. With storage memory products from Fusion-io (News - Alert), Dell PowerEdge customers will be able to engineer a more powerful and flexible data infrastructure to meet their growing data needs.”

Fusion Io was recently in news when it announced that it will participate in the Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demonstration, an annual event focusing on operational shortfalls identified by combatant commanders and government agencies.
