Infonetics Research: Google and Symantec Top Messaging Security SaaS Scorecard

These days, Software as a Service (SaaS) solution seems the most tempting solution for vendors and enterprise users. Analyzing the growth of SaaS market, Infonetics (News - Alert) Research, a market research, firm has released excerpts from its new Worldwide Messaging Security SaaS Provider Scorecard, which analyzes and ranks the top messaging security SaaS (News - Alert) providers. Established in 1990, Infonetics is working to define and track emerging and established technologies in all world regions. Infonetics helps clients plan, strategize, and compete more effectively.

According to a press release, Infonetics research report ranked AppRiver, Google, McAfee, Microsoft (News - Alert), Symantec, and Websense as top messaging security SaaS providers.These companies rank the top messaging security SaaS providers based on criteria critical to determining market leadership, including security brand presence, security profile, financial stability, market strategy, and service capabilities. These companies have received Leadership Scorecard and a Web Security Leadership Scorecard will be published by Infonetics in June.

These scorecards are part of Infonetics’ Managed Security Services and SaaS market size and forecast service.

The report highlights that Google (News - Alert) gained the top marks for installed base of subscribers, financial stability, market strategy, and service capabilities, but they do have some weaknesses. Whereas Symantec’s (News - Alert) strong security brand and profile helped place them nearly side-by-side with Google on Infonetics’ leadership scale.

Apart from these companies, Barracuda, Cisco, and Trend Micro, despite having brand, technology, product, market, and financial background, don’t have the installed base of subscribers that the leaders listed in Infonetics’ scorecard.

This reports also insights about Vendors and providers jockey for position in cloud/SaaS market,  NAC appliance market rebounds, Growing mobile security threats drive security client software sales, media coverage boost security markets; more buyers looking at cloud solutions, and Security spending for virtualized environments set to spike; Microsoft, Cisco, VMware are the early brand leaders.

In other company news, TMCnet reported that Infonetics Research has recognized Actelis Networks as the market leader in the Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) bonded copper Ethernet Access Device (EAD) category.
