BeyondTrust Announces the Latest Version of PowerBroker Desktops

BeyondTrust, a provider of privilege delegation and authorization management, announced the launch of PowerBroker Desktops 5.0.

The new version desktop option has many features. It adds rule generation options and automation, new wizards, enhanced dashboards, and improved organization. The new features are expected to assist enterprises to maximize network security by allowing desktop users to operate using less set of privileges to complete their jobs.

“With the release of PowerBroker Desktops, we have made a big leap forward in how quick and easy it is to implement least privilege and remove administrator privileges from end users,” said Peter Beauregard, director of program management at BeyondTrust, in a statement. “We developed a wide array of new features to make rules easier to create and manage, with more flexible options and a more intuitive user interface.”

Network administrators will benefit as PowerBroker 5.0 includes support for Internet Explorer 9, offering additional control over what applications and ActiveX controls are installed from the Web that need administrator privileges.

“Standard Windows features give enterprises very extreme options of either having administrative access, or not having it, but companies need much more flexibility over what privileged operations they allow users do on their desktops,” said Sally Hudson, research director, security products and services, IDC.

The BeyondTrust offering is expected to offer a solution that will make it easier for Windows environments to develop and configure detailed, granular controls. This will enable a high level of security without impacting productivity.

Company officials said five of the top ten commercial banks and two of America's largest private companies have adopted PowerBroker to secure guest operating systems and ESX hypervisors in a virtualized environment.

Recently, BeyondTrust announced substantial market penetration of the PowerBroker Suite in cloud and virtualization environments. To assist with new customer demand, BeyondTrust grew its reseller Privilege Partner Program globally by 300 percent as well as adding immixGroup and Tech Data (News - Alert)
