SAS (News - Alert), premier business analytics software and services provider and the largest independent vendor in the business intelligence market, has recently announced the launch of the latest version of SAS Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solution. The SAS Enterprise GRC solution has been designed to help compliance officers and auditors do more in less time as well as enable corporate executives and board members to avoid serious regulatory violations and enforcement actions. SAS’ enhancements for this new solution include a single corporate policy repository, a faster one-stop audit system and an updated comprehensive GRC program view.
The SAS Enterprise GRC solution was launched at the recently held SAS Global Forum, the world’s largest gathering of SAS users, which was attended by more than 3,500 business and IT users of SAS software and solutions. SAS has joined the Open Compliance and Ethics Group (OCEG) and participates actively in the Leadership Council.
In a release, Dan Mansfeld, risk manager at Vattenfall said that, “It's not only about operational risks. When I say enterprise risk management, I mean the entire perspective. Besides operational risks, we include political risks, legal risks and market risks we want to gather them all under one roof. We had several functions and areas within the corporation that would benefit from the solution, and we needed a platform that could scale to other areas of the company as well for example, incident crisis management and environmental risks.”
He continued, “We didn’t have a system for passing on the tasks or assignments to the different roles or users in the system. That is definitely strength of the SAS solution. We have a better picture of the entire risk database all in one place. Also, SAS is very strong in reporting, and we saw a huge potential for providing management with reports that they can drill into to get more detailed information, at various levels, to understand how the company or their unit is doing. The company began its SAS implementation by focusing on financial risk aspects and is slowly expanding to other areas of the company and now Vattenfall manages about 1,000 risk measures in the system and has around 200 users.”
