ESG Research Brief Highlights Crossbeam's Solutions to Server Virtualization Security

Crossbeam (News - Alert) Systems, Inc. announced the availability of a research brief from Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), an integrated, full-service IT analyst and business strategy firm.

According to Crossbeam sources the brief, entitled “Crossbeam Systems’ Pragmatic Security Architecture for Server Virtualization,” highlights the growing importance of server virtualization and the security challenges it has to overcome when used in mission-critical application workloads.

In a release Jon Oltisk, senior principal analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group said, “Server virtualization is seen as an enabling technology for cloud computing, but security remains an obstacle to more pervasive adoption of the technology.”

“Crossbeam provides security solutions that can help organizations retain control and provision security as they would in the physical world through its ‘LAN-in-box’ approach, offering a very attractive solution to companies that are looking to create more of a virtual IT infrastructure,” Oltisk added.

Giving an outline of the contents in the report Crossbeam officials said that both large and small organizations are virtualizing production workloads quickly. Although security requirements and specifications made a late entry, CISOs now understand which security safeguards are needed for physical servers.

However the skills, best practices, and tools needed to ensure security to virtual assets differs from that required for real systems. The lack of know-how in protecting virtual systems becomes a challenge as the number of VMs in production increases over the next few years.

Here Crossbeam Systems steps in and offers a practical solution to this problem by utilizing physical server-based trust zones, virtual network security services, and the networking and security scalability of its X-Series security platforms.

Crossbeam Systems’ solutions optimize network security that meets the extreme performance, scalability and reliability demands of large enterprises, service providers and government agencies.

According to company sources its X-Series security platform offers an open, high-performance architecture that can provide scalable multiple security applications to meet evolving threats. Crossbeam helps its client organizations to intelligently manage risk, accelerate and maintain compliance, and protect businesses from threats.

Recently Crossbeam Systems and Actiance (formerly FaceTime Communications (News - Alert)) announced a strategic partnership that combines Actiance’s Unified Security Gateway (News - Alert) (USG) with Crossbeam’s latest X-Series family of network security platforms, reported TMCnet.
