PNMSoft Celebrates Successful Webinar and Gears up for Another

Last week, business process management (BPM) company PNMSoft hosted a webinar entitled “The Microsoft (News - Alert) Approach to BPM,” which highlighted how Microsoft technologies are involved in the BPM arena and set out to define BPM.

“There is a lot of confusion with what is BPM to start with,” Gal Horvitz, CEO of PNMSoft told TMCnet following the webinar. “I think we came with a mathematic approach towards what is BPM and what can you do with BPM.”

“The classic definition of BPM is that it’s management discipline and a set of technologies but we say that BPM is a discipline that is used to streamline processes and to make the organizations run more efficiently,” Horvitz said. “It’s about technology. You need to plan, you need to execute and you need to monitor and then you take those things all together and start connecting them to different technologies.”

The webinar honed in on the Microsoft approach to BPM, since PNMSoft is a Microsoft world partner, and how all the Microsoft service offerings like Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Visio can offer BPM advantages if they are paired with a BPM company like PNMSoft.

Although Microsoft doesn’t have a specific product called Microsoft BPM software, it does have offerings that have many bits and pieces that cover different parts of BPM, according to Horvitz. The webinar highlighted how you can use Microsoft products for BPM use.

“We want participants to ask, ‘What kind of processes that I work with could benefit from BPM?’” Horvitz said.

“Hopefully we can show that it’s not a huge deal to do well with BPM,” he added. “It’s not like you need to spend millions and wait for five years before you get anything. You can aim towards getting something up and running in less than three months.”

PNMSoft officials also hope that the webinar “lowered the barrier” so that companies won’t be reluctant about turning to BPM and think that it can only be used for larger companies.

Following on the success of the recent webinar, PNMSoft is already gearing up for an April 26 webinar at 11 a.m. EST about business process outsourcing (BPO). The session will focus on the fact that the BPO has really been picking up over the last couple of years, with a lot of public and private sector lending more their logistics, human resources, administration and finance to BPO, according to Horvitz.

“When you engage with a BPO provider you as a customer are trying to save money and you are trying to get better service and more streamlined processes,” he said. “So the pressure is on the BPO to be very efficient because it needs to run the processes better than they were run internally with that company.”

The webinar will demonstrate how “smart BPOs” can use BPM technology to accomplish just that, he added.

One of the most exciting parts of holding these webinars, according to Horvitz, is the fact that the subject of BPM can attract so many different audiences.

“It just shows that BPM has so many faces,” Horvitz said. “We had many end users like large organizations, we had many consultants and we had many systems integrators. There are a lot of stakeholders involved with BPM play and the main challenge is how to adjust your messages and how to efficiently communicate with these different audiences.”
