Genius Debuts MousePen Wireless Graphic-Design Tablet

Taiwan-based Genius a manufacturer of computer peripherals announced the launch of its MousePen M508W in the USA and Canada.

The MousePen M508W A 5" x 8" wireless graphic-design tablet leverages the 2.4GHz wireless technology and is capable of connecting to notebooks and computers via a USB receiver. This offers greater freedom to move around without any interference.

Company sources added that this tablet is most suitable for art teachers, students, and graphic-design professionals as it gives them wireless freedom to paint, draw, write, and edit.

The key features of the device besides the 2.4GHz RF wireless connectivity and 5"x8" high-resolution contact area are four hot keys and 13 programmable shortcuts; tilt sensitive stylus with 1024 pressure levels and a wireless mouse and suitable software.

The tilt-sensitive stylus is tilt sensitive up to ±60 degrees and has 1024 pressure levels. This allows the making of brush strokes that are thicker or thinner depending on how hard the stylus is pressed, like in traditional painting. This makes it very useful for graphic-design professionals, emphasized officials in a release.

MousePen M508W offers a paint and canvas experience. The left button in the device is a simple push down type with a right-click button and scroll button near the tip along the side. The stylus can be moved across the 4000 LPI (News - Alert) high-resolution contact area as if the screen and tablet were the same. This further enhances the strokes making them more accurate. Users can change between a 5" x 8" contact area for a 4:3 wide screen contact area according to preference.

Company sources explained that the Genius (News - Alert) MousePen M508W tablet specifications includes four express keys namely desktop, Flip 3D, Page Up and Page Down which enables easy navigation. It also features an LED power and low-battery indicator.

The MousePen has thirteen programmable hot cells that provide customized Office and Internet shortcuts along the top of the contact area. The stylus can be placed on a clip when not in use enabling easy portability of the MousePen M508W. A wireless mouse with right, left, and scroll-wheel buttons is also provided which can be connected via the USB receiver.

The Genius MousePen M508W includes Annotate for Word with which users can hand write notes, highlight and annotate documents in Microsoft (News - Alert) Word. The Pen Notice program allows users to touch up pictures, put in annotations, or insert text when doing a presentation, sending e-mail, or editing pictures. The other programs are Pen Commander to draw command symbols directly on the digital pen table; Pen Mail to send hand-written emails with signature and Pen Signer to insert signatures or hand drawn graphics into a document, added company officials.
