Coca-Cola FEMSA Selects HP Converged Infrastructure

Coca-Cola FEMSA, the largest public bottler of Coca Cola products in the world in terms of sales volume, has selected HP Converged Infrastructure to support the company’s growth plans in different regions.

HP Converged Infrastructure helps the customers overcome the inflexibility and high costs created by IT sprawl to shift more resources to innovation and strategic initiatives, creating the ideal foundation for an instant-on enterprise. This is achieved through an architectural blueprint that eliminates silos and integrates technologies.

While providing better service and lower costs, the new services and infrastructure support the company’s Latin American growth. The agreement began in 2000 and it adds more than $100 million to HP’s existing Coca-Cola FEMSA relationship. Migrating business-critical SAP (News - Alert) applications and server monitoring and management to HP Best Shore locations in Brazil and Argentina, HP and Coca-Cola FEMSA will consolidate 348 locations to a single data center in Mexico.

“In a region such as Latin America with its many opportunities for growth, companies that develop an efficient technology infrastructure and business procedures to support an ‘Instant-On’ enterprise will be better able to take advantage of those opportunities,” said Octavio Marquez, managing director of HP Mexico. “Our industry knowledge and decade-long relationship with Coca-Cola FEMSA, as well as our ability to scale when and where the client grows, will continue to help the company.”

HP Best Shore global delivery centers in Costa Rica will provide HP Security Services in Costa Rica. To give clients greater flexibility and cost efficiencies while minimizing risk, HP Best Shore combines HP’s technology portfolio with global delivery expertise, the company stated in a press release.

Recently, the company announced that it was committed to the development and support of Itanium-based Integrity server platforms with its HP-UX operating system. In fact, HP has a roadmap for the server platform that extends more than 10 years, demonstrating its commitment to support Itanium customers through the next decade and beyond. The company also assured customers that it will support those who are running existing versions of Oracle (News - Alert) software on Itanium-based Integrity servers.
