Sales from Oracle, Other Business Software Makers Expected to Increase

Business software maker Oracle (News - Alert) Corp expects it will see a 4 to 14 percent increase in sales of new software during the current fiscal quarter, according to media reports.

Reuters reports that Oracle says there are quarterly results and forecasts that exceed predictions– leading to a 3.5 percent increase in shares.

Oracle said there was a 37 percent in sales to $8.8 billion during the third-quarter, higher than the $8.7 billion that had been forecasted.

In addition, new software license sales increased 29 percent to $2.2 billion during the third quarter, which is also above what had been predicted by analysts.

"What we're hearing from software companies is that business continues to cruise along," Richard Davis, an analyst at Canaccord Genuity, told Reuters (News - Alert). "It's not like people are throwing money at you, but there's money to be spent."

In addition, Oracle did not experience an impact from earthquake-related events in Japan, which are expected to affect the supply chain in technology products.

Oracle is trying to be a “one-stop shop” for business software and hardware, and Reuters said it appears that the approach is working as the economy improves from the recession.

In other business software news, Talk In Cloud reports that NetSuite (News - Alert) and Oracle have found synergies between the companies, such as with NetSuite OneWorld for Oracle.

NetSuite OneWorld for Oracle, according to a company statement, allows for:

• Cloud-based delivery of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and e-commerce that is integrated across business units.

• Speed, maintenance and efficiency.

• A focus on core business operations and transparency.

• Visibility into unit performance

SuiteCloud Connect for Oracle gives integration across ERP data, including “journal entries, invoices, purchase orders, shipments, inventory adjustments, (and) time entries.”

Founded in 1998, NetSuite, Inc. is a provider of integrated business application software for smaller and midsize businesses, according to a NetSuite website.

In a recent article, TMCnet cites Nucleus Research analyst Rebecca Wettemann, who says NetSuite offers a cloud-based system, NetSuite CRM+, that can be used in conjunction with financials and e-commerce.

NetSuite's has sales force automation and tracking from the lead to the close, Paul Turner (News - Alert), senior director of product marketing at NetSuite, told CRM Buyer, according to TMCnet.
