Mitel Expands its Global Presence, Knocks on the Doors of Russia

According to MZA , a leading telecoms and IT analyst firm that offers insightful analysis within the communications market place, Russia represented the fourth largest country for telephony shipments in all of Europe and accounted for approximately 10 percent of the region. Hence, Mitel, a premier provider of UC software solutions, has decided to enhance sales and operations support in that country.

Toward that end, it has appointed Alex Volynsky as country manager and dead of Mitel's (News - Alert) newly established representative office in Moscow. The representative office is located at Smolensky Passage, Smolenskaya Square 3, Moscow, 121099, Russia.

In a press release, Mitel's Graham Bevington, executive vice-president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, said, "This initiative is a logical step in expanding Mitel's global presence and we look forward to serving this market more effectively."

The new office in Moscow will sell and service under license, Mitel's portfolio of solutions based on the Mitel Freedom architecture, along with solutions from Wesley Clover (News - Alert) International Corporation.

Alex Volynsky graduated with a Master's degree in math from Moscow State University and has extensive experience in business development, sales and research and development. He has worked extensively in both Russia and Canada. He gained valuable experience during his executive career that ranged from being vice president of business development and states and director of research and development for Systems Network Architecture, to director general and head of representative office of Russia, CIS and the Baltic states.

Hence, Volynsky's appointment is a logical conclusion for Mitel, which is looking not only to expand its presence but also to increase sales and support operations of Mitel's Freedom Architecture and portfolio of UC solutions.

Apart from Russia, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Baltic States, Georgia and Turkmenistan will stand to benefit.

In a related news release, Mitel and Design Communications, a premier provider of telecommunications systems and services, announced that Mitel's cloud-based technology is being used to support a new hosted UC offering from DCI for the hospitality market.
