Trimble and Truecount to Deliver ThingMagic Powered RFID Solutions

Trimble, a provider of positioning solutions that maximize productivity and profitability, announced it has partnered with Truecount, an RFID software solutions provider for the retail industry.

As part of the partnership, Truecount is expected to utilize ThingMagic enterprise-grade RFID readers to offer item-level RFID platforms for retailers and their end-to-end supply chains. Currently, most retailers lack information about inventory and the shipping activities without RFID.

A study by the RFID Research Center at the University of Arkansas says the inventory accuracy rate for apparel stores in the U.S. is 65 percent. By implementing item-level RFID, Livingston believes inventory accuracy can go up to 99 percent. This means retailers can achieve up-to-the-minute inventory visibility.

“Increasing the degree of accuracy to the 99 plus percent level can be a huge competitive advantage for retailers. Truecount's item-level RFID platform combined with ThingMagic advanced reader technology can streamline and accelerate inventory and management processes,” said Zander Livingston, CEO of Truecount, in a statement.

RFID is expected to drive significant business process improvements across the retail market where item-level visibility is critical.

ThingMagic solutions are designed to enable rapid deployment of RFID and better ROI for retail customers. Truecount and ThingMagic solutions focus on offering the highest return on investment for retailers leveraging advanced RFID technology.

These new solutions offer unprecedented control over inventory and related workflows to retailers. The capabilities are designed to reduce the costs and complexities of tracking assets throughout the supply chain.

“Truecount's retail software platform addresses customers' most critical inventory-related challenges and delivers RFID-driven data that can be acted on with confidence,” said Tom Grant, general manager of Trimble's (News - Alert) ThingMagic Division.

“ThingMagic embedded and finished RFID readers provide unique and powerful options for retail solution providers like Truecount to develop offerings that can streamline operations and enhance the shopping experience,” Grant added.

Recently, Trimble and telecom service provider Verizon Wireless announced AllSport GPS, Geocache Navigator and Trimble Outdoors apps are available on select Verizon Wireless feature phones, including Samsung Alias 2, Samsung Convoy and Nokia (News - Alert) 7705 Twist.
