MicroStrategy Intelligence Server's Benchmark Test Results Are In

MicroStrategy Inc., a leading worldwide provider of business intelligence (BI) software, has recently announced that their latest release, MicroStrategy (News - Alert) Intelligence Server has shown superior cluster sustainability on Linux as well as Windows Operating Systems. The results and observations of the benchmark tests of its MicroStrategy 9.0.2 software, MicroStrategy Intelligence Server have been released.

In a release, Sanju Bansal (News - Alert), chief operating officer of MicroStrategy, said that, "As these benchmark tests demonstrate, MicroStrategy offers its customers the flexibility to operate their BI environments on the operating system of their preference, with the confidence to expect high levels of performance and scalability. Approximately 35 percent of MicroStrategy customers choose to run their BI systems on Linux, while 45 percent run their environments on Windows, and we are able to provide superior scalability on both platforms."

The key results and observations of the MicroStrategy's High Performance and Scalability lab tests include, both the Linux as well as the Windows configurations exhibited linear scalability in peak power ratings as the number of CPUs was increased from 1 to 32 on a 4 node cluster; a 4 node cluster configuration with 32 CPU cores reaches a capacity of 560 KiloCycles on Linux and 550 KiloCylces on Windows; the maximum number of active users supported on a 32-CPU, 4 node clustered configuration on Linux is 100,093, which equates to a total user population of 500,000; and the maximum number of active users supported on a 32-CPU, 4 node clustered configuration on Windows is 93,314 which equates to a total user population of 491,000.

David Menninger, research vice president and research director at Ventana added that, "Our research consistently shows performance is a key concern impacting BI implementations and organizations' abilities to provide faster and better decision making capabilities. A disciplined approach in measuring and improving performance such as MicroStrategy's High Performance Initiative provides real value to customers by addressing one of the key obstacles to a successful BI implementation."

In related news, SmarTrend identified an uptrend for MicroStrategy on September 2, 2010 at $80.56. In approximately 6 months, MicroStrategy has returned 43.8% as of the most recent price of $115.81.
