In an effort to fuel further innovation, the leading provider of high performance silicon solutions, ON Semiconductor hired technology industry veteran Dr. Hans Stork to spearhead the company’s research and development (R&D) initiatives worldwide.
In today’s highly competitive semiconductor industry, success of any provider depends largely on its capacity to innovate. The company plans to expand its product offerings in key market segments including computing, consumer, LED lighting, smart grid, automotive and wireless applications through technological innovations. And
as the company’s new chief technology officer and senior vice president, Dr. Stork will be responsible to realize this plan through the introduction of technological innovations.

In 2010, more than 50 percent of our annual sales were sole-source products. As CTO, Hans Stork will lead our global R&D teams in developing and introducing tomorrow's leading-edge silicon solutions and continuing the transformation of ON Semiconductor into a technology leader,” ON Semiconductor president and CEO Keith Jackson noted in a statement.
Dr. Stork’s career spans over nearly three decades. During his career Dr. Stork has worked with some of the semiconductor industry's leading innovators including Hewlett Packard and IBM (News
- Alert) Research. In addition Dr. Stork authored numerous scientific articles and papers, and served as a board director for Sematech and the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board for IMEC.

In a separate press release, the company announced that Atsushi Abe has joined its board of directors. Abe was elected to this position by ON Semiconductor's board of directors, and was also appointed to the company's newly formed Integration Oversight Committee, the company informed.
