Oracle Application Integration Architecture Release 3.1 Debuts

With today’s introduction of Oracle (News - Alert) Application Integration Architecture (AIA) Release 3.1, Oracle is said to be demonstrating its commitment to provide value, flexibility and extensive industry-specific integrations for customer success. In Wednesday’s announcement to the press, Oracle explained that AIA Release 3.1 is a comprehensive update with the first releases of AIA pre-built integrations based on and certified for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.

AIA Release 3.1 provides a predefined architecture that helps reduce complexity, accelerating delivery of enterprise-class integration solutions, and offering pre-built integrations across all major Oracle applications, including support for newer versions of these applications.

Nine cross-industry Process Integration Packs (PIPs) are included in AIA Release 3.1, as are eight vertical PIPs, and two direct integrations certified for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Three new PIPs including Agile (News - Alert) PLM for Process and Oracle Process Manufacturing, as well as Health Sciences industry-specific PIPs: Oracle Clinical Trial Payments, and Oracle Serialization and Tracking, are making their debut with AIA Release 3.1.

The Oracle Design-to-Release Integration Pack for Agile Product Lifecycle Management for Process and Oracle Process Manufacturing is described as a pre-built, best-practice integration process that is configurable and extensible to meet individual process needs.

Clinical Trial Payments Integration Pack for Siebel Clinical is a partial integration utilizing SOA technology providing the first building blocks to automate the clinical trial payment process, according to Oracle.

The company says Oracle Serialization and Tracking combine the product serialization and pedigree management capabilities of Oracle Pedigree and Serialization Manager with the Oracle E-Business Suite's inventory, manufacturing and order management applications.

“Oracle Application Integration Architecture Release 3.1 supplies an entirely new opportunity for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g customers to discover further value," said Michael Weingartner, vice president of Product Development at Oracle.

Customers appear to agree. "Oracle Application Integration Architecture (AIA) has made a huge positive impact on our business. We could not scale the business nor provide the level of service without the seamless integration of the Oracle E-Business Suite and Oracle's Agile Product Lifecycle Management," said Michael Higgins (News - Alert), senior vice president, Advanced Innovations. "The introduction of AIA Process Integration Packs (PIPs) certified for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g in the new Oracle AIA release 3.1 will make our lives even easier as we continue to deploy Oracle's business applications and middleware technologies as our IT platform."

In other news, TMCnet reported that healthcare organizations and government agencies will now have access to an enhanced version of Oracle’s Health Information Exchange (HIE).
