Infoblox Introduced IPAM Insight for Bridging Gap between Physical and Virtual Networks

A developer of network infrastructure automation and control solutions, Infoblox recently announced an expansion in its solutions portfolio. In a press release, the company said that from now on, Infoblox (News - Alert) IPAM Insight, an IP address management (IPAM) product will be a part of its product portfolio. The new product, the company said, has been designed to bridge the management gap between physical and virtual networks.

When enterprises go through the process of virtualization deployments beyond simple virtual server deployment to support dynamic workloads and private cloud infrastructures, they reportedly encounter explosive rates of change and growing complexity in the physical network.

In a press release, Infoblox explained that IPAM Insight is an extension to the Infoblox IP Address Management solution that further automates the collection and management of IP addresses and combines it with rich network details. Designed as single unified management interface, IPAM Insight, provides real-time, detailed network discovery and visibility into the heterogeneous physical and virtual network elements at Layer 2 and Layer 3.

“Complexity resulting from expanded virtualization and private cloud deployments is compromising enterprise IT departments' ability to realize the full benefit of these initiatives, but network infrastructure automation can provide the missing link. Infoblox is uniquely suited with real-time core network services, change management and discovery capabilities to provide enterprise IT departments real-time, dynamic solutions to harness the complexity and maximize benefits of virtualization and private cloud,” Steve Nye, Infoblox executive VP of product strategy and corporate development, commented in a statement.

In May 2010, Infoblox introduced advanced IP address management (IPAM) solution specifically designed to track IP addresses assigned to virtual machines. At the same time, the company announced the availability of Infoblox vNIOS for VMware, the company's Network Infrastructure Operating System optimized for VMware, which allows deployment of a virtualized instance of an Infoblox appliance.
