AVG Technologies Partners With AMD And DDNi

AVG Technologies, provider of a well known free anti-virus software, has announced to enter a collaboration with AMD, a developer of computing devices for advanced graphics and Digital Delivery Networks or ‘DDNi,’ a company that enables PC companies and channel partners to create and maintain an ongoing branded relationship with its customers. According to the partnership, AVG will be the exclusive security vendor for AMD (News - Alert) boxed processors, named Processor-in-a-Box or ‘PIB.’ People who will buy an AMD PIB product in English speaking countries will be able to get a premium six-month license of AVG Anti-Virus for free.

Under the new collaboration, both AVG and DDNi will work together to offer a mini-CD to be distributed for free along with each AMD PIB product. The mini-CD will be bundled with a free premium six-month license of AVG Anti-Virus, which normally costs around $34.99 for a one-year license. Whenever the user installs the mini-CD, the pre-paid version of AVG Anti-Virus will automatically launch to ensure the user is protected from the latest online threats. When the six-month period expires, the user will be able to renew the license at reduced prices.

“The new year signifies a fresh start not only for consumers, but also their PCs within their home network,” said Rocco Donnino, senior vice president of global strategic alliances at AVG Technologies. “In fact, consumers often take this window of opportunity to upgrade multiple devices and boost their machines’ performance for the year ahead. However, the safety of their digital memories remains as important-as-ever, which is why this collaboration continues to support AVG’s strategy of secure interconnectivity within our users’ home network.”

David Kenyon, corporate vice president of worldwide channel marketing at AMD elaborated, “The Processor (News - Alert)-in-a-Box program is designed to provide AMD channel partners and end-users with a portfolio of choices to create exactly what they want.” Kenyon added “By coupling the benefits of our PIB program with a free premium six-month license of AVG Anti-Virus, our system builders now have more choices to build solutions that meet their customers’ needs.”

During January 2010, GlobalCollect (News - Alert), a provider of local e-payment solutions for international Customer Not-Present or ‘CNP’ channels such as the Internet, mail and telephone orders, announced to partner with AVG Technologies to facilitate electronic payments in the 167 countries where AVG software is currently available.
