By Jai C.S.InfoSpace, Inc., a developer of metasearch products, has extended its relationship with Yahoo by signing a three-year agreement and eventually enabling it to continue the delivery of search results and text-based advertising listings from Yahoo to the InfoSpace (News
- Alert) network of metasearch properties and affiliates.
“We are delighted to announce the extension of our 12-year relationship with Yahoo,” said Mike Glover, vice president, Business Development for InfoSpace, in a statement.
“This agreement further reinforces the value proposition of our metasearch offerings and ensures that millions of InfoSpace users will continue to benefit from the most comprehensive and relevant results on the Internet,” Glover added.
“Yahoo is focused on delivering instant answers to more Internet users by expanding the reach and value of its search results to powerful distribution channels like InfoSpace,” said Finnegan Faldi, vice president, Partnerships and Operations for Yahoo.
“InfoSpace’s unique metasearch technology ties in well with Yahoo!’s (News
- Alert) strategic alliance with Microsoft’s search platform, providing greater improvements and results in search queries, and better monetization and value for our advertisers,” Faldi added.
InfoSpace leverages its metasearch technology to power a portfolio of branded websites and provide private-label search services. The company’s metasearch technology is said to allow it to aggregate, filter, and prioritize results from several of the largest online search engines, providing fast and comprehensive search results.
Earlier in December 2010, TMCnet reported on InfoSpace’s appointment of John E. Cunningham IV, as chairman of its board of directors.
TMCnet also reported on InfoSpace revealing its financial results for the fourth quarter and full year ended Dec, 31, 2010. Revenues for the fourth quarter of 2010 were reported as $63.9 million, reflecting a decrease of $6.5 million or 9 percent from the fourth quarter of 2009. Revenues for the year were noted as $246.8 million in 2010, reflecting an increase of $39.2 million, or 19 percent, over 2009.
