VSee, a provider of video collaboration software that supports application sharing, desktop sharing, movie sharing, file sharing, USB device sharing and remote camera control, will launch a VSee plugin for IBM Lotus Sametime, at Lotusphere 2011 being held at the Walt Disney (News - Alert) World Swan and Dolphin Resort.
The VSee solution requires extremely low bandwidth that is much less consumed by a number of applications such as Skype, WebEx, Polycom, Tandberg (News - Alert), Adobe and Cisco. It is also compatible with 3G/EVDO cellular air card connections. The new VSee plugin for Lotus Sametime is equipped with a number of advanced features such as multi-party video calling, application sharing and file transfers; and delivery of HD telepresence and enhanced video to the Lotus Sametime users through 3G networks.
More than 6000 enterprises have been deploying VSee for cutting down sales cycles, increasing revenue, improving customer satisfaction and enabling their teams to collaborate even when they are located at long distances. The solution benefits from the advanced features of Lotus Sametime to provide a “no infrastructure/no app” model that enables the users to connect with each other effectively. With a single click, they can call, show what they are working on and drag to send the file to another user.
Leveraging a managed, secure, peer-to-peer architecture the VSee plugin allows the administration layer to be managed centrally, and channelizes the data or media layer directly between the endpoints. It enables the enterprises to control every endpoint in a precise manner, and allows them to achieve mass deployment even with a relatively small infrastructure.
“The plugin applies cloud computing principles to live video sharing, thereby providing existing Lotus Sametime users a high-performance alternative to competitive offerings,” said Dr. Milton Chen, CEO at VSee Lab.
In November 2010, VSee Labs offered high-definition video calling available for free, offering a direct challenge to Cisco and Logitech (News - Alert) who had announced they would offer paid home telepresence.
