Hewlett-Packard to Build Data Center in Sydney

Hewlett-Packard (HP), the American technology giant, announced  in a press release that it will build a multimillion-dollar data center in Sydney's west end. The data center, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011, will create about 200 construction jobs.

The data center facility would complement the federal government's high speed national broadband network (NBN) strategy, according to HP officials.

“Investment in IT infrastructure and the national broadband network is as critical to the economy as traditional investments such as water, power and transport,” said Paul Brandling, vice-president and managing director of Hewlett-Packard's (News - Alert) South Pacific, in a statement.

Recently HP announced that it selected Ingram Micro (News - Alert) as the first authorized distributor of HP Visual Collaboration videoconferencing solutions. Ingram Micro will now offer the HP Visual Collaboration suite to its U.S. network of value-added resellers.

Through its Visual Collaboration products, HP provides everything from a desktop solution to an immersive studio, from infrastructure to concierge service, all using an online video conferencing software, according to company officials.

HP recently also announced that Dallas Cowboys have deployed HP Converged Infrastructure technology in the data center that powers Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

HP Converged Infrastructure architecture provides a blueprint for franchises like the Cowboys to create data center environments and make technology a key differentiator for their businesses, according to company officials.

“Deploying HP Converged Infrastructure has not only helped our new stadium increase revenue, but also allows us to deliver the ultimate pro football celebration to our fans worldwide,” Pete Walsh, director of Information Technology, Dallas Cowboys, said in a statement.
