New Linux Operating System Announced by CLI

Computer Lab International’s or CLI’s specialized product portfolio has a new addition in the form of a new Ubuntu (News - Alert) based thin client optimized operating system. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top provider of thin client technology, CLI. To develop a simple, flexible and highly efficient Linux offering has been the goal of CLI. The company however wanted the offering to also provide strong performance.

Following months of development and user feedback, the powerful operating system was introduced on CLI’s MT2300/ST6800 series of products. CLI Device Manager can be used by the operating system for easy deployment and management. Highly scalable CLI Device Manager is an easy to use enterprise device management tool.

Users can now seriously consider Linux as the operating system of choice with the latest Linux offering from CLI. An easy-to-use, great-looking, web-friendly experience is offered by the latest operating system from CLI. Linux can be now deployed easier than ever with the easy to configure and deploy Kiosk. Other features of the operating system include the latest Firefox browser, powerful printing support and Synaptic Package Manager.

In a release, Jason Marshall, director of technology at CLI said, "Our experience and expertise in the thin client market made this decision easy. We believe our newest and most robust Linux offering will bridge the gap traditionally had with Linux by providing functionality more in line with full windows, without compromising price point or features."

According to Thomas Fei of CLI, the company is responding to requests from the global markets and therefore continues to raise the bar. Given the direction the company is moving in, CLI understands that the value add is in a solution and not in a commodity. This solution should provide performance, flexibility, security and simplicity.

In a release, Fei said, "We are bringing in the best resources and will continue to drive innovation, and set the standard for thin client solutions moving forward."
