AVX Reveals New RF/Microwave Capacitor Series

AVX Corporation, a manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, announced the launch of a new capacitor series, the MK Series, capable of offering low ESR and able to handle high RF currents in applications including, microwave RF/IF amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, filter networks and MRI systems.

“The new MK Series capacitors continue AVX’s (News - Alert) tradition of developing advanced components designed specifically for high reliability, high temperature and harsh environment applications. The MK Series is only the beginning of AVX’s product expansion to its already broad RF capacitor offering,” Larry Eisenberger, senior marketing applications engineer at AVX said in a statement.

These new high temperature capacitors feature low ESR and high Q values combined with a wide capacitance range of 0.1pF to 1000pF and voltage ratings of 50 VDC to 500 VDC. Also, the new MK series capacitors exhibits NP0 characteristics that include low loss, electrical stability and 0 ± 30 ppm temperature coefficient, thus having an operating temperature range of -55C to +125C.

Available in EIA sizes 0402, 0603, 0805 and 1210 case sizes, the MK Series high temperature RF capacitors feature a 100 percent tin finish on their terminations. The company is also developing non-magnetic RF capacitor versions that are scheduled for distribution later this year. The new series are made available at a starting price of $0.04 to $0.30 in quantity with a lead time of eight weeks.

As an international supplier of electronic passive components and interconnect solutions, AVX Corporation has 24 manufacturing and customer support facilities in 15 countries around the world. AVX offers a broad range of devices including capacitors, resistors, filters, timing and circuit protection devices and connectors.
