By NatheshICSA Labs, a provider of third-party testing and certification of security products and network-connected devices, presented the ESET NOD32 Antivirus Business Edition with the Anti-Malware certification for use with Mac operating system. The solution also achieves the dubious distinction of being the first anti-malware product to be certified for Mac by ICSA.
ESET (News - Alert) received this designation for anti-virus detection under ICSA Labs' desktop/server anti-virus criteria, which is aimed at protecting end users from emerging and existing threats.
Nowadays threats always don’t enter the system in ways users expect them – threats are highly advanced. ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac intelligently scans compressed files to find hidden threats other products miss. Proactive protection begins at the earliest point in system startup to ensure user’s computer is always secure. It is not confined to the Mac platform alone and can detect malware from Linux and Windows platforms as well. It offers advanced security protection with an unobtrusive interface that runs in the background.
The ICSA Labs' certification demands an anti-virus solution to successfully prevent end users from becoming infected by in-the-wild and other computer viruses during a rigorous testing process and ESET edition for Mac satisfied these criteria with ease. To provide an ongoing assessment on the protective quality of certified products, ICSA Labs continually tests and retests products for compliance with its criteria. Even patches and updates for the product should go through the review process for that product to keep its certification.
"Attaining the first ICSA Labs' certification for Mac is an important validation of the quality and strength of the protection that ESET provides for the Mac platform," said Dan Clark, vice president of marketing, ESET North America. "ESET is committed to delivering the best malware protection for businesses and consumers alike by providing aggressive, proactive cybersecurity software."
ICSA Labs asserted that the threat of spreading malware in a heterogeneous or mixed computing environment comprised of Mac OS X and Microsoft (News
