CoreTrace, a provider of cross-platform application whitelisting solutions, has introduced the industry's first enterprise-ready application whitelisting solution for Mac and Linux endpoints.
The whitelisting solution is a type of comprehensive information communications technology (ICT) management and security solution.
Adoption of Mac and Linux platforms in the enterprise are increasing exponentially, as is the changing nature and severity of malware attacks on these platforms. In the past, when attacks were designed for maximum damage and exposure, platforms like the Mac OS were considered safer simply because there were fewer systems to exploit.
BOUNCER 6 Mac and Linux clients will be become available in March 2011. Pricing starts at $35 per desktop and is also available for servers.
Toney Jennings, president and CEO of CoreTrace said, “true enterprise-ready application whitelisting requires cross-platform support and we are proud to be the only vendor offering this and BOUNCER's three primary benefits - advanced threat protection, configuration control, and intelligence about all installed application - can now help IT and security teams across all three key platforms.”
According to a press release, attackers are now targeting specific information and/or users, regardless of the system they are on, which is rapidly driving the need to secure the devices that were previously believed to be safe.
Scott Crawford, research director for Enterprise Management Associates, said ‘as enterprise endpoints expand beyond Windows to include platforms such as Mac OS and Linux, security and control of these critical endpoints must expand as well and for Mac and Linux systems, BOUNCER from CoreTrace allows IT teams to establish a foundation of proactive protection for these systems, rather than simply porting over reactive solutions that have been proven ineffective against today's threats.”
In the other company news, TMCnet reported CoreTrace announced the availability of a new brief titled, "Top Seven Things You Need to Know about Application Whitelisting."
