Adobe Teams with thePlatform for Enhanced Flash Platform

Improving the delivery of online and mobile content for media publishers utilizing the Adobe Flash Platform, Adobe has teamed up with thePlatform and announced a new alliance.

The Adobe Flash Platform is an integrated set of application programming technologies surrounded by an established ecosystem of support programs, business partners, and enthusiastic user communities.

Making it the No. 1 format for viewing video on the Web, the top 10 video sites in the United States use Adobe Flash technology, the company has announced. Publishers utilizing Flash Access can take advantage of new integrated features that provide a robust and flexible solution for protecting premium content, the company has stated. This solution also enables an optimized user experience by adapting delivery to the available bandwidth as it is integrated with HTTP dynamic streaming.

“At Adobe, we are committed to working with partners to develop solutions that enhance video workflows across a wide range of devices and platforms,” said Pritham Shetty, vice president of video solutions, Adobe. “The alliance with thePlatform (News - Alert), a leading video management and publishing services provider, is consistent with our strategy of helping video professionals extend the Flash Platform and make the most of their premium content.”

To provide significant integration so users can have an easy-to-use experience on touch screen devices, the companies have collaborated for mobile publishing. thePlatform’s solution detects when consumers are accessing video from mobile devices running Google’s Android (News - Alert) 2.2 “Froyo” and reconfigures thePlatform’s video player with support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, the company has stated in a press release.

Recently, the company collaborated with six leading digital advertising companies in a bid to define two new full screen ad formats for smartphones that support Adobe Flash Player 10.1 software and/or HTML5. The companies that are collaborating with Adobe include EyeWonder (News - Alert), a Limelight Networks business, Greystripe, Medialets, MediaMind, PointRoll and Sprout. These companies will work to promote the ad formats across the online ad ecosystem.
