By NatheshSTMicroelectronics (ST), serving customers across the spectrum of electronics applications, unveiled the new Teseo II single-chip stand-alone positioning receivers for portable navigation devices, in-car navigation and telematics applications.
According to the company, its Teseo II receiver STA8088EX is a single die standalone positioning receiver IC working on multiple constellations (GPS/GALILEO/GLONASS/QZSS).
By combining the ARM946 microcontroller core with the large numbers of peripherals/ interfaces, STA8088EX provides a highly flexible and cost effective solution for hand-held and telematic applications. The device is the ideal solution for sensor-based and sensor-less ST Dead Reckoning technologies which enhance positioning accuracy even in areas without GPS signals, like tunnels and indoor parking.
The new SoCs are supposed to address a wide range of consumer and automotive applications, including personal navigation devices, GNSS modules, marine equipment, fitness devices, in-car navigation, telematics, eCall and advanced driver assistance systems. The Teseo II receivers consist of features that cater to the specific and rigorous demands of the automotive market.
Officials with the company said that the newly released Teseo II is the first ever single-chip solution able to acquire and track signals from satellites of multiple global navigation systems, including GPS, GLONASS and QZSS that are operational today, as well as Europe's upcoming GALILEO.
The company said its superior positioning accuracy, combined with powerful processing capabilities and open platform approach, makes ST's Teseo II chips an ideal choice for next-generation navigation and telematics applications, where cost-effectiveness meets uncompromised performance.
Some of the key features of the new receivers are: STMicroelectronics’ (News
