Infradapt Leverages Open-Source Technologies to Upgrade Contact Centers and PBX Platforms

As part of a series of videos featuring thought leaders in IP telephony and communications technology, TMC (News - Alert) Executive Editor Erin Harrison recently met with Infradapt’s managing partner Corey S. McFadden at the ITEXPO West 2010 show in Los Angeles to see what the company was up to with regards to Open Source (News - Alert).

Before proceeding further on this topic, the executive editor asked McFadden to give TMCnet readers a big picture of what is happening with the company.

Replying to this question, McFadden said that Infradapt has grown as a company and has moved to new headquarters in West Allentown, Penn.

“We have been constantly expanding our basic customers in contact center market, as well as in cloud computing and other hosted infrastructure business,” stated McFadden.

He added, “Cloud platform and virtual technologies that drive them are really transforming the way business communications and business computing works.”

Harrison then quickly moved to the Open Source question. She wanted to know how Open Source was really helping contact centers to grow.

“It is an interesting time to be in the market,” noted McFadden, “Specifically, because bigger players like Cisco (News - Alert) are just starting to introduce new products into this market.”  But, he added, “Development cost of bringing these products to market so late in the game is costly.”

The editor was curious to know where the sweet spot is— in other words, where the company is making the biggest impact. “Most of our customers are in small to medium size markets,” asserted McFadden. While there is no real specific vertical that the company serves, McFadden indicated that customers were all over the map. In essence, he noted, “companies with about 1000 employees was the sweet spot.”

Looking forward, Harrison asked McFadden to shed some light on Open Source trends. “I think the market undeniably is going to get bigger and more vibrant…New technologies like tablet computes will drive people to think deeper and bigger in how to use these new products in the marketplace.” Plus, continued McFadden, “I don’t see them radically changing the market overnight.”

What are you trying to accomplish at the ITEXPO (News - Alert) was the final question to McFadden. The reply was prompt and short. “We have come here to get some hardware and software perspective and take it back to our customers so that they can do things in a new way.”
