More Businesses Spending on Cloud Computing

Cloud computing and managed hosting spending by U.S. businesses will surpass $13 billion in 2014, up from less than $3 billion, according to a new In-Stat report.

"Although spending across all sectors and size of business is projected to grow, there are some segments where growth will be staggering," said Greg Potter, research analyst. "The professional services and healthcare verticals will see the largest growth in spending on cloud computing services, growing over 124 percent between 2010 and 2014."

In-Stat (News - Alert) report indicates that SaaS (software-as-a-service) spending will increase 112 percent between 2010 and 2014. While IaaS (infrastructure-as-a-service) spending will approach $4 billion in 2014, PaaS (platform-as-a-service) spending will increase 113 percent to about $460 million in 2014.

The In-Stat research, “U.S. Business Spending by Size of Business and Vertical, 2009-2014: Cloud Computing and Managed Hosting Services,” also reveals that SOHO (small office/home office) businesses are leading in the adoption of cloud computing services.

This research provides forecasts of U.S. business cloud computing and managed hosting spending for the 2009-2014 period with detailed segmentation by product category, size of business, and vertical market.
