GreenAppX's Safran Explains Issues With SMBs and Business Continuity

At TMC's (News - Alert) IT Expo West 2010 in Los Angeles, TMC's CEO, Rich Tehrani, had a chance to speak with GreenAppX's president, Jim Safran. The GreenAppX marketplace, which is powered by the Jamcracker (News - Alert) Services Delivery Network, enables AB&T channel partners to offer more than two dozen brand name communication, collaboration, IT, security, and business application products.

The company lets distribution partners sell online apps under their own brand, and they stay in the background and manage it all. Larger enterprises like private IP networks, he said, adding that they're working with some larger enterprises on that.

The ideal customer for GreenAppX (News - Alert), Safran said, would be a smaller multi-location business. "They play well in our environment," he said. He said their ability to provide the same messaging platform, no matter where somebody's located geographically, "is strong and compelling. The built-in business continuity in the model itself also lends itself to that SMB enterprise, which typically hasn't paid much attention to business continuity, but they should. They should think of the consequences of losing their critical data."

In addition to communications collaboration and conferencing services, Safran said they can also provide mobility apps, such as BlackBerry (News - Alert). "We provide IT remote management software, desktop security through MacAfee," as well as other services. They also have customers who want more complete management suites, everything from documents to HR to accounts payable and asset management, delivered via the cloud as a subscribed service.

Last year TMC's Anil Sharma wrote that AB&T Telecom (News - Alert), GreenAppX and Jamcracker entered into a partnership to provide a channels-focused marketplace that enables Telco agents, VARs, and Managed Service Providers, or “MSPs,” to source and sell subscription-based cloud services to their business customers. The GreenAppX marketplace provides AB&T channel partners with a wholesale cloud services catalog as well as private-branded life-cycle services delivery and management, Sharma wrote.
