X-ES Unveils XPedite7331 Single Board Computer

Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc. (X-ES (News - Alert)), a provider of chassis, single-board computers, I/O, power, backplane, and system-level products within the embedded computer industry, announced the rolling-out of an air-cooled, 3U CompactPCI (News - Alert) Express single board computer (SBC), XPedite7331.

SBCs are self-contained embedded computers that are generally used in embedded computing systems. They run embedded and real-time operating systems and application software. Some of the functionalities they carry out include system control and management, I/O expansion, communications and networking, storage, and graphics capabilities.

Built on Intel (News - Alert) Core i7-610E, -620LE, and -620UE processors and Intel QM57 chipset, the XPedite7331 SBC is designed to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency for industrial control and test and measurement applications.

Operating at 2.53, 2.0, or 1.06 GHz, the XPedite7331 features up to 8 GB of DDR3-1066 ECC SDRAM on two channels and up to 16 GB of user flash and 32 MB of redundant boot flash.

Other XPedite7331 feature set includes XMC site, gigabit Ethernet and USB UART serial port for additional flexibility. Operating system support includes Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Package (BSP), Wind River (News - Alert) VxWorks BSP, Linux BSP and Windows drivers.

Apart from offering SBCs based on the Intel processors, X-ES also provides SBCs based on Freescale PowerPC processors.

According to X-ES, the company develops SBCs in a number of form factors such as 3U and 6U VPX, VME, 3U and 6U CompactPCI. And, all SBCs developed by the company are available in air-cooled and conduction cooled versions to support a wide variety of applications across multiple industries.

In November 2010, X-ES introduced XPedite7330 conduction- or air-cooled 3U CompactPCI SBC ideal for air-cooled, industrial and communications applications. This 3U CompactPCI SBC is based on the Intel Corei7 processor and Intel QM57 chipset and delivers enhanced performance and efficiency for air-cooled, industrial and communications applications due to Core i7 processor with dual cores operating at 2.53, 2.0, or 1.06 GHz.

In the recent news, X-ES introduced XPedite7470 conduction- or air-cooled 3U VPX SBC. This SBC is the first of six standard form factor products based on the 2nd generation Intel Core i7 processor. It leverages the processor's quad-core technology operating at 2.1 GHz to deliver enhanced performance and efficiency.
