Apple Stores Give Restocking Fees the Axe

If you've purchased any Apple (News - Alert) product, you know the repercussions that typically come along. Return an opened product to an Apple Store you will be charged a 10% restocking fee. Think of this known fact as a thing of the past because as of Tuesday, Apple is cutting restocking fees from their retail chain.

No one really knows how Apple will deal with a more then certain increase in returns, especially when it pertains to scratched up iPods and what the policy with iPhones will be. If you’re sitting out there wondering how this effects the 14 day return period don’t, because it still applies.

These new actions, will allow more leniency. For example, if you purchase a 16 GB iPad and use it for 3 days, then want to upgrade to the 32 GB model, you won’t need to pay an additional 10% restocking fee.

In related news, Apple Computer, Inc., the giant multinational corporation that creates consumer electronics, computer software, and commercial servers, launched its app store for its Macintosh computers Thursday. The company said the new store initially contains more than 1,000 computer apps in 21 categories, such as productivity, games and education.

The store will include contributions from third-party developers such as Twitter Inc., Evernote (News - Alert) Corp., and Rovio Mobile Ltd., offering its colossal hit game, Angry Birds. In a statement, Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs said, “We think users are going to love this innovative new way to discover and buy their favorite apps”.

Apple sees its Mac App Store as a way to capitalize on the popularity of its iPhones and iPads to sell more computers.
